Blue Dot Laser was awarded a 2017 Golden Mousetrap Award celebrating North American design, engineering, and manufacturing.
We are thrilled to announce Blue Dot Laser has been selected as a 2017 Golden Mousetrap winner in the Materials and Assembly category for 3D Printing & Rapid Prototyping Materials, Tools & Services. The Golden Mousetrap Awards celebrate the companies, products, and people who are energizing North American design, engineering, and manufacturing. The Golden Mousetraps Ceremony was held in February in Anaheim.
Design News’ industry leading editors worked tirelessly to go through the many entries received to come up with the products most deserving to be on the list of finalists. The finalist entries were then sent to the entire editorial team, as well as their distinguished Advisory Board to choose the winners.
“The Blue Dot Laser Cutter brings a new business model and technology to the abrasive fabrication industry. CO2 lasers have long been looked to for processing hard to cut materials. This new machine with its easy load cartridge system allows abrasive distributors and fabricators an economical, flexible machine for cutting difficult substrates like flexible abrasive material. We have tested this evolving technology for many years in our own in-house fabrication departments and are now offering it to other companies.” – Paul Burzynski, Blue Dot Laser Systems, Chief Executive Officer.
“Other laser based solutions have existed for some time now. Price, ease of use and reliability has been a road block to wide acceptance in the multi-billion dollar abrasive manufacturing industry. Five years ago we started researching the use of moderately powered CO2 lasers for cutting abrasives and other difficult materials that are primarily processed in web form. We chose a reliable “flying optics” platform for directing the laser energy. This allowed us to build a machine that worked well, produced accurate parts at an acceptable speed and at a price that was affordable for small to medium sized distributors and manufacturers.“
Other products besides Abrasive surfaces are easily cut on a Blue Dot Laser system. Our innovative material “hold down” and feed system works with most roll fed materials.
“We are honored to be recognized by Design News,” said Troy Bankston, Director of Manufacturing for Blue Dot Laser Systems. “The Blue Dot Laser Cutter is now being used in manufacturing in several locations.”
